Flashcards — CPL-H Area VI Performance Maneuvers (Lessons 17–18)

QS
Quick stop — collective role?
Lower collective as you apply aft cyclic to prevent ballooning; pedals hold heading.
QS
Quick stop hazards?
Ballooning, rotor overspeed, heading wander, tail/tail-rotor strike in the nose-high attitude.
QS
Why train quick stops?
They build the coordination/flare timing used in the autorotation.
AUTO
First action on engine failure?
Immediately lower the collective to preserve rotor RPM.
AUTO
Autorotative airspeed/RPM?
Fly the POH autorotation airspeed; keep rotor RPM in the green with collective.
AUTO
Turning autorotation — RPM trend?
RPM tends to rise in the turn — manage with collective; roll out aligned with the spot.
AUTO
Flare timing error (too high)?
You sink/run out of rotor energy before touchdown; too low = no time to cushion.
